Directorr:
Claude Berri

Cast:
Yves Montand, Daniel Auteuil, Gérard Depardieu, Emmanuelle Beart

Stars:

This is a French double feature, the two parts are connected. I came upon the film while browsing a "1001 films you must see" list when building my Netflix Queue. I'm very happy that I did considering I found this film to have one of the best storylines I have seen to date.

The description is a bit lackluster and I must be honest that it made me weary at first to bother watching it. Without giving much away, it's about the length some would go to preserve their family name and wealth. The story takes place in the French countryside near a small farming village. There's very little romance; more treachery, drama and revenge. There was really only one familiar face for me who was in the first film, Gérard Depardieu.. He was in The Man in the Iron Mask.

I strongly advise that you watch it.

I watched a movie called Vin Yan last year. I rented it specifically because it had Emmanuelle Beart in it and I hadnt seen her in anything since date with an angel. It was without a doubt one of the worst movies ive ever seen so to watch this one is a scary prospect.
