Don't ask the mirror who is fairest of them all

This is the discussion I had on vmo a few years ago. Now they've confirmed it with science and a deeper explanation as to why we prefer our mirror images and why it matters.

"When making decisions about how attractive a person is, we focus only on the left side of their face.

So when we groom ourselves in the mirror we focus on the left side we see in front of us – the wrong side to impress others, as it attracts the least attention."

Another link with different writing is this one:

But I don't generally like the Daily Mail, so I didn't post it as the main link. Spazdaq, allow us to hyperlink in the descriptions or comments.

Also allow proper paragraph formatting in comments to avoid the above fail.

Having a dominant right hemisphere creates this effect in relation to how we process visual stimuli. Makes me think that left-handed people may focus on the "right" half of their face when looking in the mirror, although I have read that left-handedness is never truly dominate to one side like right-handedness is. Also I wonder if this effect is true in nonhuman primates. I have read that handedness develops from fetal positioning in the womb and most likely evolved to the degree seen in humans from more precision tool-use in early hominins.

What's important here is that we both recognize that left-handed people are better, prettier, and smarter than those mediocre right-handers.
