I do kind of see his point: the cross is definitely a prominent symbol of WWI. It isn't like Flanders Fields is a conglomerate of multi-ethnic graves.

For me personally though, let's do away with erecting more war monuments whether or not they have religious conotations. If we really want to honour the dead, let's do so by ending armed combat all together.
