CDC: 28 Pregnant Women Dead From H1N1

A stark reminder about how deadly the new H1N1 virus can be. During a news briefing Thursday, U.S. health officials said the virus has hit pregnant women especially hard.

“The CDC is aware of about 700 cases of 2009 H1N1 in pregnant women since late April or early May,” Tom Skinner, a spokesman for the Centers for Disease and Control and Prevention told FOXNews.com. “There have been about 100 pregnant women admitted to intensive care units and there have been 28 pregnant women who have died from 2009 H1N1.”

Dr. Anne Schuchat, director of the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases at the CDC said these numbers “are really upsetting” and urged pregnant women to get the seasonal flu vaccine and the H1N1 vaccine.

“It’s safe and effective and we think it’s important to get this (H1N1) vaccine out as soon as it’s available,” Schuchat said at the briefing.

Imagine the number of pregnant women in the ICU due to swine flu now that children are passing it around like a dirty note in class.

I was listening to NPR this morning and they had on a doctor who was discussing this very same issue. It is truly sad that so many people are being suckered into the negative propaganda surrounding vaccines. Of course the group most reluctant to accept that vaccines are not harmful are mothers and soon to be mothers. They would rather cross there fingers and hope for the best rather then to trust in science. On one hand I think fuck them, if they want die off from the gene pool all the better for us. But what does concerns me is the fact that these people have now become carriers of a potentially deadly virus and can spread it to people who could not afford the vaccinations or who already have a comprised immune system. It is not fair that others have to suffer because a bunch of women read People magazine and watch Oprah to get medical information. So much so that Jenny Mcidiot has become their go to person for advise on vaccinated their children. They're placing their kids lives and others on a dumb blond who gets her information from bogus website and quacks.

And again - the same issue is with this vaccine as it is with others... We have medical professionals advising these women that they shouldn't get the h1n1.

I have to wonder what the motivation is behind that. Are these doctors up to date on the current medical research? Are they being manipulated by these anti-vaccination groups? I would love to talk to some of these doctors.

Well, they're now doing research to investigate as to whether the chemical composition of the vaccine has any negative effect on the mother or fetus. However, from what I've read - it's basically the same comp as the regular flu shot pregnant women have been getting for years now.

I'm always wary of NEW vaccines. The same way I'm wary of NEW medications. As much as it might be a good idea for pregnant women to get this vaccine, its far too early for them to be calling it "safe and effective"

Check my facebook, Ms. Manic. I linked this article there and also posted an article pointing out that the new h1n1 vaccine is composed the same way the regular flu shot is.

Here is an email I got from a friend at work. I don't know if he's just forwarding it from someone else or he got the information from his actual sister, but there appears to be some validity to it.

'My sister Kim just called, for those of you that don’t know she is a RN in the ER at Baptist. They had a meeting this morning on the H1N1 vaccination, and the doctors at Baptist are advising that their staff and patients NOT get this vaccination. They have had several reports of people getting Guillain-Barre Syndrome. They are also concerned about how fast this vaccination has been developed and the lack of testing that has been done concerning this vaccination. In fact one nurse at Baptist, has a son that took the vaccination and has developed Guillain-Barre’s.
(Guillain-Barré syndrome is a disorder in which the body's immune system attacks part of the peripheral nervous system. The first symptoms of this disorder include varying degrees of weakness or tingling sensations in the legs. In many instances the weakness and abnormal sensations spread to the arms and upper body. These symptoms can increase in in tensity until certain muscles cannot be used at all and, when severe, the patient is almost totally paralyzed. In these cases the disorder is life threatening - potentially interfering with breathing and, at times, with blood pressure or heart rate - and is considered a medical emergency. Such a patient is often put on a respirator to assist with breathing and is watched closely for problems such as an abnormal heart beat, infections, blood clots, and high or low blood pressure. Most patients, however, recover from even the most severe cases of Guillain-Barré syndrome, although some continue to have a certain degree of weakness. )
You can read more about it at www.ninds.nih.gov . She also said of course you should ask your doctor about it if you have any questions.'
