Jesse Washington writes a really superb piece here that contrasts and compares the current race issues that are augmenting the issues of the recent political arena.

While I agree with his assessment of a kind of equilibrium of racial tension, I think he leaves out a key variable in the argument - motivation of racism. There is a difference between bigotries depending on the emotions they are derived from. Fear, anger, hatred, ignorance, or whatever create distinct behaviors and they should be addressed accordingly.

I still think Joe Wilson is a piece of crap racist, but this article made me play devil's advocate on his behalf for all of about 30 seconds.
