They have experts saying things like "i dont know why they would do this" and "it doesnt make sense". It makes perfect sense to me. in the current state of this economy these companies are down on new customers and its gonna get worse for them when the dems start passing credit reform laws. i think they are trying to load the bank before they become legally required to act ethically.

I called USAA to find out if they were doing this and they said that they have been lowering limits and in some cases to below the balances but that they were not charging over the limit fees for those balances. I think thats totally acceptable to change the limits as they see fit as long as it doesnt lead to unexpected fees for the customer. incidentally, my limit had not been changed. its still way to high and i owe way to much.
