What does Beta mean and how long will idiotechnica.com be in it?
Beta is a fancy schmancy technical term that means: We do not want to take any responsibility for the quality of our software at this time. Idiotechnica will always be in beta.

The Arcade Fire's New Music Video is About You.

http://media.nyunews.com/t/articles/images/2010/6/28/28track/06-28-track-arcade-fire_jpg_980x650_q85.jpg The Arcade Fire's video for "We Used To Wait" is an interactive web browser based experiment.

Even though in ten years I"m sure this will seem as impressive as a dancing baby does today, I think it's a really cool experience to have right now.

It was built in HTML5 and is best viewed with spazdaq's favourite browser; Chrome.

I've heard a few comments about how it seems to be nothing but a bunch of pop-up ads for google, and that the tech seems to contradict the song's message.

I tend to disagree though. Firstly, I'm not sure how much input the band actually had into this project, but regardless, I think the guy behind it wanted to create something that would connect with each viewer as an individual, and google maps just happened to be a really convenient way to do it.

Also, even if it isn't the first project to do this sort of thing, I really like the splitting up of the video into different browser windows. To me it really seems to bring an otherwise regular music video to life in a unique way. Sort of as if I were watching a music video on TV that continued even when I changed the channel.
