Issue #1 of Scientific American available online

http://www.scientificamerican.com/media/inline/improved-rail-road-cars_1.jpg Scientific American is celebrating 165 years in print! To celebrate, they have made their very first issue available as a pdf. They have also recreated their cover story entitled "Improved Rail-Road Cars".

From the article:

"Some of the most elegant cars of this class, and which are of a capacity to accommodate from sixty to eighty passengers, and run with a steadiness hardly equalled by a steamboat in still water, are manufactured by Davenport & Bridges, at their establishment in Cambridgeport, Mass."

Awesome.

Great post. I loved reading through it.

What I found most interesting.....

The article titled Rational Religion in which they basically say that western religion is rational but eastern is not because the east does crazy stuff like buying tons of incense each year.

The selling of acres of land for those individuals who could sign up early subscribers to scientific american.

The article of arial navigation is cool b.c. the author basically lays down the logic and engages the reader to figure out why the product sucks.
