Magnetically Manipulating Morality

http://www.emory.edu/ACAD_EXCHANGE/2006/octnov/neurlogy.jpg Very interesting study done by researchers at MIT wherein they used transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) to inhibit the right temporoparietal junction (RTPG) in the brain.

In lamens terms, they used magnetic pulses to disrupt a part of the brain thought to be associated with moral perception.

They showed the subjects a scenario in which a girl tries to poison her friend by pouring what she believes to be poison in her coffee. The poison turns out to be sugar and the friend lives. The subjects that had disrupted activity in their RTPJ's were more likely to deem this course of action as morally acceptable.
