What does Beta mean and how long will idiotechnica.com be in it?
Beta is a fancy schmancy technical term that means: We do not want to take any responsibility for the quality of our software at this time. Idiotechnica will always be in beta.

Back Up Your Geocities

Yahoo is shutting down geocities...only 10 years after they bought it for 4.9 billion dollars. awesome. Yahoo says they are doing this to concentrate on social network type stuff. In other words, its no longer profitable to have a business model that requires anyone to learn anything about computers.

I know i have a handful of geocities urls but i cant remember them to save my life. I guess the ultimate resources for my vanity as described by the html 3.0 specification is forever lost.

not since myspace i dont think.
i loved geocities cause it let me know which of my friends were able to get their hands dirty on a computer. there were a couple of people that did some really impressive things with the limited tools of early html and javascript.

Yeah, I learned HTML on geocities, but my page has been gone since yahoo bought it. I vaguely remember yahoo sending me notice that i had to create a yahoo email account to keep it active and I refused.
