Paranormal Activity

All I knew about this movie was that it was made on a 12,000 budget, and that people were saying it was the next Blair Witch Project. Let me just make it perfectly clear that I was NOT impressed by the Blair Witch Project. I was actually very disappointed after it had been hyped up so much.
I enjoyed Paranormal Activity more than I thought I would. Is it the scariest movie I have ever seen? No. Was it predictable? Yes. Did I enjoy it? Very much so. I think it is a major achievement to create such tension and anxiety without showing any blood or gore. It plays on our own fears, and I really think it really succeeds at it.
The story is simple. A documentary of a couple who decide to film their every move in order to prove or disprove the strange phenomenon that is happening at their house.
The screaming teenagers at the movie theater kept jolting me out of where the movie was taking me. I think it would have been more effective at scaring me if I had watched this one alone at home.
Fun flick. I recommend it. Go into it with low expectations and you will be pleasantly surprised.

I actually was terrified to the point of ridiculousness.

After the movie was over, I sat on the armrest at the edge of our row, wrapped my arms around my boyfriends waist, and shook until i calmed enough to stand.

I do agree about the teenagers though, except in my theatre, the teenagers didnt know what to do without excessive blood and gore and they wouldnt quit bitching.

see it during the day or on a weeknight when they have school the next morning.

I watched the trailer and I was not impressed with it in terms of scariness. While I am curious to see if this movie could scare me I have my doubts. Since I do not believe in the paranormal I am not sure watching it would evoke any fear responses in me. I do want to see it though just to see if being caught up in the moment could frighten me. Have not had a good scare from a movie since I was a kid.
