Posts: Science and Nature / Elliot makes juice

I give Elliot a few pieces of fruit in her food bowl 2 or 3 times a week.  Within the last few weeks, i have noticed that she has been taking once piece of fruit from her food bowl and putting it in her water bowl which is on the other side of the cage and probably not all that easy a trek with a chunk of watermelon or pineapple or whatever. 

At first I thought she was doing it to soften it up because she does that with sunflower seeds. She will take a bunch and put them in her water bowl and then eat them later.   She doesnt like them dry.  But i see her eat the fruit in the food bowl all the time so the behavior is not about softening the food.



She just likes turning her water into juice. 

You could save her the trouble and put it in the water for her you sadistic prick

I like letting her solve her problems on her own. it builds character. plus, id prefer she didnt do it since she bathes in that water also.  a sticky bird is a...well sticky bird
