So about a week or so ago, the bandwidth usage of idio shoots up through the roof. I was confused until i started poking through logs and see that some movie streaming site from latvia is hotlinking one of my movie posters for its catalog. now this is clearly a high traffic site cause im getting like 100 requests for the picture an hour. So I go to the site and of course its all in latvian which i dont speak. so I put a "dont hotlink" image in its place...granted, this doesnt stop the request or the use of my bandwidth, but i figure they will swap it out eventually. nothing happens.
So then I swap it out for a really disgusting picture...i mean...reallly disgusting and think surely now they will take it down....but a couple days go by and nothing.
So then i see they have a flash chat embedded on some of the pages. I see they have a latvian college girl for a moderator. whatthelatvia.com anyone? ha! anyways. so i take the exact same very disgusting picture but i just crop a picture of this moderator from her profile into the picture. i didnt superimpose anything to make it look like she was doing anything. just dropped the picture of her in the corner of the image as an addition to the very disgusting picture. i am thinking this chick will probably get offended and then she can use her latvian language skills to write the correct people to get the image taken down. within hours they stopped hotlinking.
