You should allow anonymous users to like / dislike individual threads or posts. Something like: "17 people found this useful. 5 did not." Just came to me how often I rely on ratings such as that to quickly establish credibility for the author or product. I think it would establish a credibility for threads/authors for the passers-by, over time.

Dude, there's like 5 people that regularly post on this site. I don't really think a system like that would be effective here.

perhaps a rating system..... +5 if you like it -1 if you dont? At some point, when the thread has accrued negative points it could be "votedoff".

of course, for some threads you'd want to use stronger weapons - which could do like, -500 damage.
