when you create a blog, the footer of the blog will contain, along with the edit link a publish link. blogs will be hidden from blog and thread lists until it is published. you can toggle freely back and forth between published and unpublished. this will give you the ability to futz around with the blog as you see fit before showing it off to the rest of the world.
