johnpg82: I'm definitely going to be swapping over to an Android but I'd like the software and application development to mature a little more before I jump on. I've heard that the iPhone simply has more applications available at the moment. But seeing that the Android has an opensource platform I can see the tables turning. Plus I don't have to own a Mac to write an application. This version of the Android looks promising but I'm not a huge fan of Sprint. http://now.sprint.com/evo/?ECID=MA:EM:20100323:FTK:EVO:possibilities
i honestly dont know how many apps there are for the iphone, but ive browsed the android app library and honestly dont see any end to it. its huge.
also, for shits and giggles, i downloaded the dev app and wrote some test apps in java. it was extremely easy...albeit the emulator was quirky and slow...but that was a year ago. im sure its improved since.
the only reason i can see for the popularity of iphone over android is the same reason for the popularity of macs. apple is a freaking marketing monster and they will convince anyone of anything.
