What does Beta mean and how long will idiotechnica.com be in it?
Beta is a fancy schmancy technical term that means: We do not want to take any responsibility for the quality of our software at this time. Idiotechnica will always be in beta.

'Night of the living IE6'

More than 100 people, many of them dressed in black, are expected to gather around a coffin Thursday to say goodbye to an old friend.

The deceased? Internet Explorer 6.

The memorial service will feature a coffin holding a "body" that has an IE6 logo for a head. Attendees are expected to eulogize the Microsoft browser by sharing remembrances, some of which have already been posted on the company's online funeral invitation.

"I feel terrible admitting this, but ... I never really liked him," posted someone who gave his name as Eddie Escher. "He had so many hang-ups, and he looked awful -- especially in his later years. But... he was always there when you needed him. You have to give him that."

Thankfully it still lives on (seemingly forever) in the Canadian Public Service.  Oh Canada!

My primary clientel is hospitals and most of the computers at the hospitals have high security preventing anyone from upgrading their browser.

ah.

i just support a bunch of people who may or may not still be using a 386. not that it matters that much since anyone not using firefox infuriates me anyways.

Chrome has recently become my #1 browser mainly because of how well it performs compared to other browsers and the fact that it never crashes. I mainly only use Firefox for its development tools anymore.

i refuse to use chrome as google has deals with software companies to install it if i accidentally dont uncheck that box when installing whatever software i actually intended to use.  that makes it as questionable as the yahoo toolbar to me.

Haha I always to the "custom install anymore". I've read recently that the new Opera has become the new "fastest browser on earth" taking the title from Chrome.

I also like using chrome because my bookmarks are synchronized to my google account and I can transfer them from one browser to another.

although i dont care because my only bookmark is my homepage, i'd be quite surprised if there wasnt a roaming bookmark plugin for firefox.

I used to love Firefox but recently it seems to have gotten really bloated. But this could just be because of the pluggins I have installed. But I only have 2 pluggins installed.

1. The only toolbar I use which is Web Developer Tool Bar

2. Selenium IDE to automate testing.

the latest versions are very fast without the webdev toolbar. webdev is a resource hog. considering what it does, i assume it always will be. it also manages to expose every crash firefox has to offer.

Still I think that Firefox has been plagued w/ memory leaks and has been a major resource hog for the last 2 years.

This is why Chrome is my primary browser because each tab is a process in its own and if you are running a multiple core processor you can take advantage of this. It just runs more efficiently on my computer and all this prevents any lag or crashes.

i havent seen any memory leaks or crashes really since i ugpraded to 3. the rendering engine is supposed to be faster. it still doesnt take advantage of multithreading like it should which is annoying indeed. they seemed to have fixed the single UI thread problem though...where if the browser was doing anything in the background, the UI was sharing time with it.
