that and Darwin knew the impact his theory would have on the scientific and religious community and how this may effect his reputation as a scientist. It was because of this concern Darwin wanted to publish his theory chalked full of so much evidence. This way he could thwart some of the negativity by providing example after example of his observational and experimental data. Darwin was not by any means the first to suggest that species changes over time, even his grandfather had written a paper on the subject. The theory however was never presented with any supporting evidence compelling enough to be taken seriously. Darwin, however, not only provided overwhelming evidence and sound logical interpretation, he was also the first to write about the mechanisms underlying the process, natural selection.

He ended up publishing On the Origin of Species when another guy named Wallace sent him a much simpler version of the same theory the Darwin had spent much of his adult life working on. As a result Darwin and Wallace co-authored a paper on the theory and then Darwin published On the Origin of Species. In the book Darwin apologizes over and over again for not providing more evidence for any given topic he discusses throughout the book. In the end, however, it worked in Darwin's favor. On the Origin of Species ended up being a much more condensed version of this theory that made for a much better read. It was not boggeled down with so much detail that it's overwhelming and to much effort to read.

I am super excited to see the movie,  I like the cast, Paul Bettany and Jennifer Connelly. It looks like it should be good.
