this phenomenon is occurring all over the place and has a lot to do with the lack of quality anywhere. mom and pops get bought out by chains until there is no one left to check and balance the quality of the giants.
it used to be if one place didnt carry this, another place did and so on and so forth. now its at best buy, or no where.
eventually the entire web will be one url. probly facebook.
idiotechnica will either become a facebook app,or have a picravesque welcome page.
websites are fads. i'm surprised yahoo is still around.
myspace will go under if their investments fall through and i believe facebook, like twitter, is another innovative installment in the progressing cycle. a few years from now facebook will be a lame dwelling like myspace if they can keep innovating their site and not allow for a fresh idea to take them out. i don't believe we'll ever have one solid website that'll stay afloat and keep the attention of its users. only news sites and search engines will have a sustainable life.
