Posts: Movies and Television / Teen Wolf Remake?

OK. Now I am sad.  I'm not a "remakes suck" kind of person. I am even kind of looking forward to the Karate Kid update if for no other reason than "just to see what they do"

But I just can't get behind an MTV remake of Teen Wolf.

If hollywood is so desperate to find new audiences for old concepts, why cant they just sell the old concept? Digitally remaster Teen Wolf and put it back in theaters. I'd effing go.

I don't think a lot of people really appreciated the movie underneath that movie. The subtle nuances that could take a cheesy 80s movie concept and turn it into a movie with a unique warmth and charm were lost on most.

I seriously doubt that anyone could trump Michael J. Fox in the role of Scott Howard. Hell, Teen Wolf 2 was pretty much a remake of its prequel and it sucked ass.  Jason Bateman is extremely talented but not even he couldnt make heads or tails of how to play that part.

This is seriously sad news.

I never understood mike's fascination with that movie. It seems to only appeal to age groups between 10 years 2 months and 10 years 5 months. I seem to remember it only being released on the strength of Back to the Future. It probably would have been straight to video or shelved if not for Zemeckis.

it was a teen movie. but most teen movies have non existant adults. That was one of my favorite things. the relationship between fallable adults and the kids.  The conversation between scott and coach finstock was a priceless example of teachers not really giving that much a crap about the students, not because they dont want to care but because they have their own problems and agendas.







On top of that, you have Jerry Levine nailing the role of the type of best friend you get if you arent good at making friends.  you have the antagonist bully guy but he never really bully's anybody.  he's just got what scott wants and doesnt really become a problem until scott takes it from him creating  a "whos the real bully" element where normally youd just have a straight forward im good - he' bad cliche.



I think the director made a real movie out of a campy teen formula and as i previously stated - no on even noticed.

this is one of the very few movies I'd agree with Spazdaq that was actually a good movie. the rest of the stuff he likes is crap.

i was forced to watch the first season of this show.  It wasnt pure crap and maybe even qualified as tolerable for a tv series, but it didnt have any depth and could have easily been released under a different name as it shared minimal similarities to the movie.
