Author Photo: Dylan I couldn't find the lyrics anywhere, so I figured I'd type them out. Here they are:

North wind sinks the fence around a lot full of debris
Near the corner of Memorial and me
Where resurrected brick and drywall leap back into place
There's a terrified reflection of my face

All alone at the gleaming knife display in the army surplus sales
As the dusk descends and my inspiration fails
Ghosts fill discount parkas;
Sleeping bags peer at me from the crumpled dark.

Inky bruises punched into the sky by bolts of light
And then leak across the body of tonight
Well rain and thunder drop and roll then stop short of a storm
Leave the air stuck with this waiting to be born

As I stand before an unresponsive automatic door
Just another door that won't open for me anymore
The exit red gets brighter, then blinks off
Presses me into the crumpled dark

There's a billboard by the highway that says "Welcome to the avenue"
But no sign to show you when you go away

And our demolitions punctuate
All we mean to save them; leave too late
So I make my shaky exclamation mark
With a hand full of the crumpled dark.

Great song. You can currently listen to it here:

He is actually putting together a series of 7 inch records that are narratively (not a word) based around different roads in his home province Manitoba, Canada. This song appears on the first of the series entitled "City Route 85" (which is also known as Portage Avenue, "the avenue" in this song). There are two other songs on this record - one of which can be heard here: http://exclaim.ca/article...=138&csid2=804&fid1=42181

Actually it's being released through ANTI/Epitaph which I would guess means the U.S. will get presses.
